Characteristics and Applications of High Purity Graphite Plate

What is High Purity Graphite Plate?

The characteristics and uses of graphite differ based on the fixed carbon content. High purity graphite plate refers to graphite with a higher carbon content, generally with a carbon content >99.99%, known as high purity graphite plate. There are two types of high purity graphite plates: one is natural high purity graphite plate, and the other is artificially synthesized high purity graphite plate (also known as high thermal conductivity nano-scaled flake carbon powder). The flake crystals are complete, thin, and have good toughness. They possess excellent physical and chemical properties, with good thermal conductivity, temperature resistance, self-lubrication, conductivity, thermal shock resistance, and corrosion resistance.

Characteristics of High Purity Graphite Plate

High purity graphite plate has characteristics such as high strength, high density, high purity, high chemical stability, dense and uniform structure, high temperature resistance, high electrical conductivity, good wear resistance, self-lubrication, and easy processing. It is widely used in industries such as metallurgy, chemical, aerospace, electronics, machinery, nuclear energy, and especially in high-tech and new technology fields as a substitute material, offering broad application prospects.

Application Fields of High Purity Graphite Plate

In the industrial field, high purity graphite plate is widely used in the metallurgical industry's high-grade refractory materials and coatings, carbon brushes in the electrical industry, electrodes in the battery industry, etc. After further processing, high purity graphite plate can produce graphite milk, graphite sealing materials and composites, graphite products, graphite friction reducers and other high-tech products, being an important non-metallic mineral raw material for various industrial sectors.

  • Battery Manufacturing: High purity graphite plate can be used as an anode material in battery manufacturing, with excellent conductivity and chemical stability;

  • Semiconductor Industry: High purity graphite plate is also widely used in the semiconductor industry as a substrate material needed for wafer processing;

  • Silicon Carbide Ceramic Manufacturing: High purity graphite plate can be combined with silicon carbide to make silicon carbide ceramics, which have good high-temperature and corrosion resistance, and are widely used in aerospace, optoelectronics, and other fields;

  • High Temperature Vacuum Equipment: Due to its excellent high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, high purity graphite plate is widely used in the manufacturing of various high temperature vacuum equipment, such as vacuum tubes, vacuum furnaces, etc.

Physical and Chemical Indicators of High Purity Graphite Plate

Generally speaking, the main physical and chemical indicators of high purity graphite plate are as follows:

  • Carbon Content: The higher the carbon content of the high purity graphite plate, the better its performance. Generally, the carbon content is required to be above 99.99%.

  • Impurity Content: The lower the impurity content in the high purity graphite plate, the better its performance. Generally, the impurity content is required to be below 0.01%.

  • Density: The density of high purity graphite plate is generally between 2.2-2.3g/cm3.

  • Conductivity: High purity graphite plate has excellent conductivity and is an excellent conductor.

  • Thermal Conductivity: High purity graphite plate also has excellent thermal conductivity, making it an excellent thermal conductor.

  • Thermal Shock Resistance: High purity graphite plate has good thermal shock resistance and can withstand drastic temperature changes.
